Understanding Multiplication

Multiplication is a quick way to add the same number many times.

For example: Instead of adding 3 + 3 + 3 + 3, you can just say 3 Γ— 4!

Example: 2 Γ— 5 means you have two groups of 5.
That’s the same as 5 + 5 = 10!

Each multiplication sentence tells us how many groups and how many items in each group.
